I just bought a 2001 Wolverine.....will be picking it up on Tuesday, when I can get my trailer. I've spent a lot of time on various manufacturer work-type 4x4 rigs.....what differences should I expect? This was a compromise. I wanted the Big Bear; my wife, who was raised around dirt bikes (her dad rode professionally back in the 60's) wanted something more of a sport bike. So, with the reccomendations of several dealers (lots of shopping), we went with the Wolverine.

By the way, after riding this machine at a local auto/motorcycle/PWC dealer who wasn't too interested in dealing, ended up purchasing through a dealer entirely with Internet, e-mail, and fax. Very slick, definitely the wave of the future. Since we were the first all-electronic transaction with their new website, we got a he** of a deal.

First time here....looks like a great resource.

I've got a 00' Team Alba Wolverine and it's pretty awsome. Not only is it fast but you can do a little work with it. When pulling trailers you can't get out of 2nd gear, but when riding with friends you shouldn't have a probelm out running most of them unless they have Scramblers.

I was told by the guy at the dealer to take it super easy, no reving, and letting cool all the way down after shutting off before starting again...for two full tanks of gas. Is this right? Also, can or should I install some sort of hour meter, to keep track for maintenance? I really want to do this stuff right.

Thanx for the information!!!

I have had two Wolverines one was all stock with
25" super swampers, and my Team Alba Wolverine with 25" super swampers. The first one I didn't break in like they told me two(they told me too do the same as they told you except, they said to change the oil after 20 hours and after 10 hours to run at full trottle for short periods of time then let it cool) Now the one I got now I broke it in the right way and on both of them after a year or so they started to smoke, but it's just valve guide seals and they are an easy fix. One other thing they said was to have the valves adjusted. Hope you like your Wolf, I love mine.
If you have any more questions just ask.

Is there any mod that I should absolutely do, right off the bat?? Got about 2 hrs. on the machine so far....haven't really played hard, of course, but it's definitely going to be fun. Heading for the mountains tomorrow...be riding some trails at about 5200 ft. elevation. Probably be an obvious difference in performance? Don't plan on doing a lot of riding up there over time, so don't want to do any adjustments to carb, etc.

Also, keep hearing these horror stories about the air filter cover not quite fitting right. Bad enough to change over to K&N or something else??

When you take the lid off the airbox replace the filter system with a prodesign and rejett, I have the prodesign foam system, cause foam filters better I also have a procircuit t-4 pipe with those 2 I am running a 147.5 main jett and its running very good.
