dont have time to travel just for racing and we have a track here, but its usually lame...plus the bike guys dont like what quads do to the track...so i have my track, and 4 others have their tracks so we do that, trails, gravel pits, I have 3 ramps now, and the dunes when its warm out

Typically bikes are faster but it does depend very much on terrain.

I rode in an even recently that had lots of mud rocks and snow and I can tell you that I spent all day passing one bike after another.

The more jumps and whoops you have and the more peaked off landing ramps you have, the more it favors a bike. As for cornering, I've NEVER ridden with a bike rider that was faster in the corners. The good bike riders can usually pull a couple lengths out of the corners and through big whoops, and through the technical sections. The bikes are quicker out of the corners and it lets them do rythm sections that are impossible on a quad. On a natural terrain course thats fast not real technical, I'll take the quad anyday!!!!!

Rid, we MUST ride/race bro! I have got to break you of the habit of thinking the way you do!! We'll do some 100+ft jumps and maybe it'll knock some sense into you!

Sorry guys, but on a "modern" mx track(ie: steep faced jumps, rythm sections, high bermed corners) the bikes are gonna flat STOMP quads. Ridley made a very good point, bikes just pull out of the corners soo much better its no comparison. And the bikes just get soo much better traction, theres no contest. TellicoGriz and I both have experience in both realms. I raced dirtbikes in mx for yrs, and can say from experience that a quad just can't perform on an mx track like a bike does. Its just not what they were designed for. But I will say that with the "new" sport quads that they are better than I have EVER seen them. You can actually race a quad in mx now without spending 10's of thousands of dollars just to be competative. I think its great!!

Ridley I do agree though with you about flat, unbermed corners. Anything that requires flat tracking a quad will make a bike just look plain stupid. Like I said I've experienced first hand both ways, and have to say for Overall riding I wouldn't take a bike over a quad again. But if I were doing strictly Mx, I would just have to be a die hard atv fanatic not to pic a bike over the quad.

I've yet to see a bike or a quad race without a rider and you can't race yourself unless you do it for time. So it comes down to who is a better rider. I'm a novice racer at best and I can beat a lot of bikes on our local track. That doesn't mean my Raptor is faster than the 125's or 250's that I beat. I also get beat by other guys on lesser bikes than the ones I beat. You guys that say you can beat another rider without ever racing them are just blowing smoke. If you want to talk smack do it at the track. Then line em up and find out who is talking at the end.
Bikes are faster, quads are faster, Honda's are faster......what a bunch of crap!

Believe what you want starky. Its facts. With Equally skilled riders on a technical mx track the quad will loose. Sorry to burst your bubble. But you are right about rider ability. I've seen kids on 80cc bikes do things that boggled my mind. The only point I think most are trying to make is bikes are just better designed for todays modern mx tracks.

The track situation is a very debatable subject and depending on the track looks like it could go both ways. But I been on a piped/paddled 500 2 stroke bike in the dunes and there is no comparison between that and any quad. Some of the Banshee hill shooters can run like that, but those are the ones that can only go straight. That bike was unreal, and you could really cover some ground on it.

There are no absolutes in this sport. I agree that on a Supercross type track a quad has no chance against a bike unless of course the bike rider can't handle the track, but then I wouldn't be afraid to lay down money and race any top Supercrosser across a field of boulders.
My point is......talking crap on the forum is just that. Until we get together on the same piece of ground and on our prefered horse, it's just crap.
