COUGH, hack ! hack hack, gag ackk.... ahem, whew!. I thought I heard something about a 250f motor, . NO!! lol. go with the 2 stroke ! more power ! and yes, if you put the yz motor in it it would be way faster, like a
250R.

I still need to know what the top speed would be and how would it perform on a motocross track?

Not sure of the top speed. I have raced 400ex's and some Polaris 400's and beat them by about 4 quad links. My motor is bored 50 over. There is plenty of room for the motor. I had some tabs welded to the front of the frame to mount the radiator it is out of a Honda 250R.The quad is set up to race MX but has never been raced.I have taken it to the dunes and done some trail riding with it and did just fine. Actually selling it to a friend because I just purchased a new LE Raptor.

Is there a downside to putting the engine on it. Compared to the stock 200 engine? you would need a longer swing arm and probably better suspension.

I'm pretty sure that the YZ250F engine is counterbalanced, therefore I suggest using it much more than I suggest the 250 2 stroke. That is coming from someone who has actually done one of these swaps, I put a Suzuki RM250 engine into an LT250R Quadracer. I have an anti-vibration steering stem and Tag T2 bars, but the vibration is still bad. I had the engine balanced as well.

There is a reason that the pros went to the big 4 stroke thumpers in about 2000, it was because those engines were counterbalanced, the 250 2 strokes were not, and the few pros that tried the swaps (Harold Goodman I believe tried a CR250 motor in a TRX250) retired it early because it shook so damn bad.

The YZ250F motor is very powerful AND VERY HIGH TECH and can always be modified for even more power. Also, the YZ250 engine swap has been done, but I have never seen a YZ250F engine swap, but many people have talked about doing it. You can be the first to actually go ahead and do it. It's such a logical swap as well. Hopefully Yamaha will sell a YFZ250 soon.

Will it need suspension modification? Not neccesarily, one's riding style could adapt to the motor's power for the time being until shocks, A arms, a swinger and an axle can be afforded.

FOUR STROKE OVER TWO???? the 250F wouldnt have the top speed like a 250 would it. How can the vibration be so bad on it??? and if i put a 2 stroke engine in it will there be enough room for the fatty pipe cause of the curveature in it??

I can get either engine the 250 f for 800 dollars with out all the crap or the 250 for 350 dollars with all the crap

Some friends are saying it wouldnt work from the exhaust system to fit in it? Will it actually fit and if it doesnt is there a way to get extensions or what not to get it to fit right? If it does work will it be able to keep up with a 250R? its a 2004 blaster with a 2000 yz 250 OR a 2002 yz 250F engine just to let everyone know. I need to know for sure if the radiators, fatty pipe, silencor, and the height of the actual engine to fit into the frame without having to cut it or shape it.

Thanks

The YZ 250 motor that I have in mine fits with room too spare. The radiator is installed in front of it mounted to the frame. Now the exhaust on mine is the FMF gold series it had to be cut and made to fit.It turns away from the motor going out the left side then curves back around and goes back out using the stock mounts. The head pipe is in two peices.
