yea I know they are ripping people off but if people are dumb enough to pay that then let them

Ohh and sparks I guess is working on a 440, 450, and 460 kit I don't know what anybody else is doing and how much gains these will make they're working on them

yea but the raptor has more displacement then every sport quad in production except the vforce so its kind hard not to compare it to a smaller quad wouldn't you think?

Several people have already called Sparks about the 470 kit. It's around 1500-2000, and it supplies between 55-60hp.

Hopefully I'll be around 65 with FCR's, and the right tuning and tinkering. I'm shooting for a realistic 60rwhp...with 65 being at it's best.

And you are right, quads can only be mod'd to a certain point, and the Raptor will surpass the YFZ. I properly built and tuned Raptor at a 727/730, 740, or 770 is very tough to built. So when it comes down to the most HP with mod'ding the Raptor will win. Bottom line.

As for prices...a 04' Raptor is around $6000-$6300(LE) out the door.

A red/white or blue YFZ is around $7000-$7100 out the door, and I don't know how much the LE would cost.

The 450R is the same price as the YFZ.

On first arrival, the YFZ was almost $7500 otd.

your right modding the raptor to a 770 will beat any yfz but then big deal you can go in a straight line how fun is that??

I would never build a quad so that it would only go in a straight line that is just pointless to me for some people that might be all they want to do and thats cool but I would rather rip through trails all day with my friends and have a good time basically being able to do what I want instead of going in a straight line turning around and doing it all over again.

Just until this year, my bud's 770 Bud Light Raptor was trail capable. Just now is it strictly a drag racer. Just because you bore the motor, doesn't mean you can't trail ride a Raptor.

It's up to the owner, and what he wants to use the bike for. And this post should be finished, because it's obvious the Raptor has more potential then the YFZ or R. That's what the original post was for, and it's a easy topic to answer.

You guys really think the YFZ big bore kits will reach 65 HP ? Just my opinion , but I dont
think its likely. There are some very hardcore builders trying everything, like upping compressions,
boring, cams, porting, intakes - you name it. What they are finding is that when you make it
a bigger bore, and upping compression and bigger piston, you are slowing revs down, (added moving
weight) and basically cancelling out alot of the HP you'd think should be there. As for porting, these YFZ
heads are pretty damn good straight from the factory. Even the best port jobs ever, are adding what, 2hp ?

From what Ive seen and researched and read, so far, - speaking about "normally aspirated" engines...
even the well known and common mods listed above are squeaking out only a small percentage of HP over
stock. Best Ive ever heard ,are barely scratching 50hp, with a LOT of work.

We shall see, Ive been wrong before !! - but I really dont think any new bigger bore kits are gonna be
very impressive. Its just hard to make a tapped out engine, go much farther. This engine rips, but theres
a reason - its already tweaked and modded from the factory .

Remember, no flames please, just my honest opinion . Id love to debate the subject further.

I would probably never go buy a big bore kit for my yfz except maybe to make it a true 450 that's what I have my raptor but you never know what people could be thinking of. I know sparks 465 ex's are fast as hell supposively there was this one event like four stroke wars it might have even beat 4 stroke wars where nothing could beat the 465's but they were sparks own bikes so they could have been tweeked a lot more but I'm pretty sure somebody will find something to make the yfz even better and more powerful to be able to compete with larger displacement quads when you start modding I could be wrong too though. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
