big blaster problems

one thing for sure, you're probably going to need a new top end. The engine holding open for so long then the traditional black smoke then just dies is the top end going out. This is Strange, but I have an excellent place for you to ask this question and get some good answers. Go to www.blasterhq.com, register as a member(it's real easy) then post your problem under the trouble shooting section. There are some guys on there that know EVERYTHING there is to know about blasters and will be glad to help.

What happened is your engine went into a lean condition. Air to fuel ratio. This could have happened very easily playing in the mud with a clamp on Kand N air filter. The bottom line is you either got dirt or water into the carburator. You will need to remove and clean it. Dirt got caught in the idle circuit. The reed petals need to be checked also. Make sure they are not broken and that they are in the "closed position. The top end of the engine would more then likely need to be rebuilt. You watched your engine overheat. This engine is revving out of control, building heat, with no air flow around it. All you would have done is, place your foot on the brake pedal, pull the clutch in , put in gear and slowly release the clutch with the REAR brake on. The engine would have came down to idle then you would have been able to turn it off. The reason it would not turn off is. The combustion chamber of the engine reached a temp that was hot enough to ignite the fuel, NO spark needed. Just like a diesel engine. This is not uncommon. I have been playing with two stroke engines for 15 years. This condtion that happened to you has happened to me several times. I own a complete engine test and repair facility, if you want me to hook you up, email me at kennedy_fab@yahoo.com

yamahracr03, Let me fill you in some more before you do all that thought. A two stroke motor, if timed just right, can kindof run of it's own momentum- this usually happens if it has exposure to lots of air. You said you're bike idled higher and higher. It's more than likely got a blown base gasket seal or head seal, and air was being sucked it. it started with a little bit but then the leak just got huge because of the pressure. Check both the head and the base gasket. A friend had the same thing happen to his blaster, he said it was scary as sh*t when he hit the kill switch and key and nothing happened. he managed to save it from blowing up by dumping the clutch in 4th gear. It's oidd that it would run without a key but it's possible with an air leak.

Sounds like the same problem my son had last weekend but his did shut down. Turned out it was the hose between his Rad Valve and the carb. It split and really added the air to the mixture. I bought a Flex Radiator hose and cut it to fit and all is good now. This might have been your problem also.

I have a 2000 Blaster! One of the first things I did was un hooked the Oil mixer. I started to mix my own gas. You never know when that thing could give way and no oil gets into the gas to mix. All that playing in the mud might of caused it to go out and no oil mixed with the gas. That would have caused it to rev extremely high, maybe to the point of not shutting off, and now you r gonna have to replace the top end. (bored, pistons, rings). The last thing you wanna do is have straight gas going to the motor and no oil to lube up the piston as its firing up and down. Let me know if this might help ya. Advice, mix your own gas! Its better to be safe then sorry.
