I have not done this on a quad, but i painted the exhaust system and engine on my mustang, after a summer of driving the paint still looks like new.. I got this paint its good for up to 1200 degrees, you can find this at auto zone for around 5 bucks a can..
Hope this helps,

I am sure mud, etc will not hurt it at all this stuff dries very hard and from what i can see a very good quality paint, in fact i over heated the stang when the water pump went out it was close to melt down and it did not hurt the paint one bit.. I think a nice gloss black would look nice on the blue rappy...

trailrider500 i used the same things on my truck calipers, to make them chrome on my black tacoma, it looks SWEET, after 3 years i had to repaint them again, but hey what can you ask for...... just make SURE you let it dry good for a week or 2 before you ride it..... other wise it won't cure right...... they also make some paint for wood stoves that is the same color as that stock paint stuff.....
