Grizz Dead
#1
Started te Grizz up this morning
Fired right up.
Let it run for a few minutes
hopped on to back out of garage
half way out it died
Have not been able to start it since
Flooded? Yes . At least I thought it was since I seen fuel at the air box intake.
removed plug dry as a bone.
hard to see spark in the daylight
What can it be? I have less then 150 miles on this.
Update:
Still DEAD
here is what I found and where I am at with it.
Had to run some errands so I did not get back home until 3
Started with the plug. Bought new one just in case.
It was DRY! No gas at all
Put the new one in. Plenty of spark when grounded. Both on the original and new one.
Pulled the hose from fuel valve to carb. Plenty of flow.
Backed off screws for bowl drain hose. NOTHING not a drop. Turned fuel back on, not a drop out of the drain.
Thinking the float is stuck or the needle is clogged.
Tried to get to the screws for the bowl. Able to get 3, but the back one was a b!!ch.
Went to the part store, bought a can of fire fluid--starting fluid-- Yea I know, harsh stuff. But I ony used one squirt to verify fireing of the ignition. Started right up.
Ok, went back with some carb cleaner to see if it would free things up. Sprayed through the airbox, fuel hose inlet and even back sprayed through the bowl drain.
NOHTHING, notta.
Started to pull the carb off. Air box out, tank off,
tried to get the cover off for the throttle, stipped another screw
CALLED IT QUITS!!
Guess I am not going riding tomorrow.
Never even had time to finish the mods on the ramps that originally started all of this.
Wanted to center the ramps on the new cross beam and drill the pin holes. But was never able to back the Grizz to the truck
Until tomorrow

You had gas flow from the petcock?I've somehow ingested dirt ,water..something into the tank tube on gas cap and this does not allow the gas to flow to the carb.I took the hose off and blew through it and it started right up.If not this you'll have to bring it in under warranty?Probably something simple!Good Luck!

Try rapping , in the area of the float bowl, with the back side of a screwdriver, sometimes this will unstick the float/needle valve.
Open the screw, at the bottom of the carb, that drains the float bowl, if the carb vent is plugged, this should start a flow of gas. If it does start to flow, then the carb vent is plugged.

Where is the Carb Vent??
UPDATE It is FIXED
Just got home from a friends house. They have more garage room and heat
Did not find anything in the bowl, but once I had the carb off, and then drill out the two last screws holding the bowl on. Did not find anything inside. But once back together everything flowed fine.
The screws Yamaha uses are JUNK They lock tight the screws but use cheesy philips head screws. JUNK.
Replaced with stainless Allen heads
Not sure what actually fixed it. But at least I know I did not have flow out of hte bowl before and then did after

Trying to find a picture that has your carb, but this will have to do.carb vent
It serves two purposes, it vents the float bowl, to allow fuel to flow, and its also the overflow, if the float needle sticks open, the fuel will come out here. They make kits to add plastic line to the vent and go to the air cleaner,it you really get into muddy wet conditions. Like this kit vent kit
Sounds like your problem is fixed. enjoy the ride
