I just got a brand new YFZ 450. It is bone stock. Here is my question...........Is it normal to have a glowing head pipe? I called one dealership that told me it was normal. The next said it wasn't. Mind you, I'm not riding it hard yet due to break-in. I am mainly wondering if anyone else has experienced this. The quad only has about 20 minutes of run time. I have parked it until I find out what is going on.

I just bought mine a week ago and one of the first things the dealer told me, was that the head pipe would glow and that it IS normal. Have fun and enjoy your new quad!

 

Cool! Having that thing glowing down there just worried me a little. I just didn't want to melt a piston or have something catastrophic happen.
I actually just got off the phone with a Yamaha tech and he told me the same thing. Now I can start to plan a few mods.......

My friend just bought one and, it won't even run. It won't idle and, also pops and, chokes when you give it gas. Your lucky!

The "Stealer" told him to wait till it is warm and, try it then. I told him to jump it throught the front window of the dealer onto the managers lap! I'd demand a new one. it is 3 days old! and, he has 4 mins on it.

 

Rappys glow too, I wouldn't worry about it.
