i was riding yesterday and dove about 1/4 - 1/2 at full throttle and i was going past my neighbor's house and he had a bunch of his friends swimmin and as i was goin past my t-wolf started sputtering and it could barely run. what is going on it has happened before but i leaned off my air/fuel mixture and it helped for a while. could i need to adjust my valve clearance? it also did more backfiring than it did actual running. what is going on!?

Check out the other posts on sputtering and missing engines, most say a good carb cleaning does the trick. I am very careful with my atv's, always stored in a shed and I had trash get into the carb of a Big Bear, ran perfect after carb cleaning. It would crank and idle perfect but sputter and back fire when opened over half throttle. Even though my BB had a plastic gas tank condensation and enough rust collected to cause problems. Do you ever drain the carb by the drain screw on the side near the bottom, usually has a hose connected. Good idea to drain occasionaly to help prevent water and crud from collecting.

Make sure your gas cap vent hose isn't twisted kinked or otherwise.

backfire through the pipe means your lean backfire through the carb means your rich becouse you were a little past 1/4 throttle means youre pilot jet is clogged. unclog it and you will be fine
