Default Yamaha Big Bear info?

I am really looking to buy a new atv, I think i am going to go for the big bear 4x4 2004 model, I was wondering how fast it goes. I don't need a real fast atv. I will mostly just be on hills, and some mud and needs to be able to cross a few creeks but nothing to bad. but i don't want to buy something that is too slow. thanks for any info anyone can give me. by the way i am 6'5 and 180 pounds is that a good size atv for my size, I am new to atv's i have ridden a few but I have only owned dirtbikes

I have an 03 Big Bear and love it. I put on a set fo Mudlites and have never gotten stuck except when sitting on the frame. This machine is not exactly fast, about 43 mph. The only suggestion I would be is to make sure you want a manual or automatic before you buy. If you like manuals you will not find a better trail/work machine out there. Geared really low with lots of torque. If manuals do not suit you go for the Kodiak.

yes, the bear is quite slow (45-50 i've heard) but will go almost anywhere, you'll only get stuck if the frame hangs up really good, thats the only way to get it stuck, loads of power, fairly hard to tip, if you get 02 and newer it comes with 2x4 4x4 select, wish i had that, oh well, but you should love it

I have a 1998 Big Bear and it is a good reliable machine. It is bone stock and will go just about anyware. Only way it will get stuck is if the skid plate bottoms out, same with any 4x4 thow. I have never had any problems with it.

i have an 04 big bear ( had a little over 7months now),....everything is completely stock...i dont understand where people are only getting 45 mph out of their big bears...mine will do 55(sounds like its going to blow, but it will do it)...my friend had a big bear that got stolen, but his did about 53 or 54...it may just have something to do with riding conditions or something...but, i've only had mine stuck once, and it was stuck pretty good, because it was beign supported on the frame..Has plenty of torque, enough for me to walk it(wheelie),....you can do little jumps(wouldnt recomend anything over a foot and a half tall or so....the ground clearance is plenty enough also(the same as my friends kodiak)...but id say that it was well worth the $4,200 that we payed out the door...taxes and everything at the dealer...jus y 2 cents,l8er
