i have allways found yamaha puts there gears slightly high so its not so good in the jump. honda usually puts a bit lower gear and has quicker acceleration TO ME.

 

the yfz and trx may be set up for mx but it doesnt mean there slow...people use them as drags too,it doesnt matter if they use them for anything (except towing or pushing snow)

 

Well that's odd because last weekend at the dunes, I was able to launch off the line in 2nd gear on my YFZ. But when I rode my friends new TRX450R, I couldn't take off in second. It would just bog. I had to take off in first. We were running the same paddles to. So that kind of goes against your gearing theory.

yfz-Dual over head cam=acceleration and over i have to admit more power than the trx
450R-single over head cam "uni cam" not as much acceleration but still powerful

 

and you notice yfz has less ccs but more hp, DOHC
