ATV Action Magazine had a shootout....The Best Factory Accessory Quad. Basically it's four big bore quads with all their own company's accessory's.

Needless to say the Raptor was the fastest of the four in all time trials and courses, and took the honor's of the champion of the shootout. It is a really good, read, and everyone should check it out if it's available to you.

There is no doubt, that the Raptor is a great performer, especialy with full exhaust, jets and in this case removal of the airbox lid (More air In, More air Out). The only complaint I have about this particular Shootout, is that it was more of a contest between the Manufacturers and the performance parts that the offer to the public. These quads were not modified in the same manner. Granted, Yamaha is to be commended for at least offering parts to improve the performance of their quads. The rest have a ways to go.

what has changed, other than color, on the raptors in those 2 years?

 

Exactly, a first year problem, trannys, whoooa. But nothing had changed performance wise in any years if im not mistaken.
