its one of those things that you need to get used to. I can ride a dirt bike with twist throttle no problem but on a quad I just cant seem to get used to it.

i can't understand why all the problem's with a twist. it sound as if all you can't ride that good. throttle control twist or thumb must be one of the most important thing's to learn. the clutch is also away to control the throttle.
this subject has been beatin in to the ground. i dislike the thumber because of the lack of grip, hitting my thigh,& the cramps it give to my arm.
i've ridden dirt & street bike's for 31 year's, so i prefer the twist. if you rode snowmoble's all your life you would prefer a thumb throttle. i've ridden quad's with the thumber all day long & it's not a problem, but i can't wait to get back to a twist. fun is fun twist or not. if you buy a twist for your warrior, make sure it's name brand like gunnar , magura or a honda cr type. don't get copy cat crap the quality is just not there.
if you just sit on your butt & ride neither throttle will work right. get in to it!
some of the other replies sound's like a lack of common sense on there part or there buddies part.

i got rid of mine, i ride pretty fast regardless o f whoops or whatever(maybe not smart but fast). i had the pro motion vortex(1/4 turn) model and that thing is way too quick for trails i think, on whoops every lil jerk give it almost full throttle i couldnt get used to it. i took it off after around a month and going off a road once and standng my bike up and got trown off and denting the exaust canister because Sh!tty stock grab BAR, now i have to get a new exaust it wasnt even 6 months old... GET A NEW GRab BAr if you get a pipe 50 bucks is better than 600, and i ended buying a grab bar anyway.
oh but ill propbably try another one that isn't too quick. any one have a sugestion on what type of twist trottle thats comfortable for trails?

the magura 312 model has a stainless steel top cover & machined cast alloy body. 2 twist ratio's on the throttle tube. just unscrew 2 small screw's , take out cable, twist tube to other ratio, put cable back in etc...
it's the one i use. make sure to get a cable with ajustment's on the cable housing. terrycable or pro motion.

I have one and its great for open riding, but trail riding sucks with it. I have ridden bikes for years and its not the same as being on a bike with a twist. The main problem with quads is your posture compaired to that of a bike. On bikes you dont really have to hang on all that much, your legs stretch out more and there is more of a natural lean that pushes you towards the front of the bikes and your theighs keep you on the bike more than your arms do. With quads you sit up higher and most seats really dont throw your weight towards the front as much as on bikes and you mainly hold on with your arms. With that being said.....quad twist throttles the real problem is at low speeds and turns when you arm pushing and pulling on the bars. You end up grabbing more throttle than what you want. I will not be putting another one on any quad that I intend to mainly trail ride with.
