I think the stock rear tires are 22"...
I was wondering what if any benefits there are to going with a different tire size (say 20, or 21)(I know I will lose clearance).
I usually ride with other warriors and would like to keep my top end... but I also want a little more snap...
anyone have any suggestions?

The thing that happens when you change the tire size is that the taller tire has higher top speed, but then you loss low RPM power for climbing or something. With smaller tires there is less weight, less side-wall(for better turning). But with smaller tires you will get more power through out the gears(like different sized sprockets). I know this 'cause I too have a warrior that does like 65mph. I run 20in all-traks. They rock every where you will go. I keep up with the banshees and 400EXs too.

I assume you can run away from a stock warrior.
If your top end is around 65mph you have the stocker beat. what size front tires do you run?? I know the newer warriors came with larger front tires than than my 1995 (I think mine are 21" with a 10" rim)

Is it worth switching to a larger rim (from 9" to 10 or 11) in the back ??

i have 20in bandits in the front on the stock 10in rims. the rear are the stock 9in. rims. the top speed of my warrior is 65mph. because the speed is like that because to get more power is simple...re-jet the carb. with K&N then put the airfilter on and silicon it. Remove the air box lid. After that put FMF pipe on and you should notice the power difference. Cut fenders for air flow. Try taking stock parts out and put on aluminum parts like Bumber, skid plates, handle bars, grab bar,etc...U can also run different sized sprockets. stock is 13tooth. if you put a 15tooth sprocket on it will do like 70-75mph. but remeber bigger sprocket, less power in higher gears means alot longer gear(more power spread) the way mine is set up, i can out run a 400EX.

I think the gravity is messin with this guys head! You cant outrun a 400EX, not unless you got a fully modded Warrior. Your Warrior will NOT do 65.....maybe in your dreams. I mean c'mon, stock is like 56 mph, if you drop to a 20" tire you're going to drop to about 51-52 mph. I went to the 20" Bandits in the rear and hopped up to a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket, so I think it about stayed the same. Dont listen to Gravity, you aint gonna touch a 400EX unless you got a high compression piston, high lifter cam, racing pipe, modified gearing, and a lot more....

So with a 14 tooth sprocket and 20" tires its about the same as stock all the way through?

I guess I am wondering why I should even bother changing the tire size at all now... it looks like I would need a new sprocket and have less clearance with the same performance as before.

PC_350_Warrior,

I think you are right... in my mind smaller tires WOULD lower the top end I just wondered by how much.

let me tell you somthing, making the tires smaller will Make you Top Speed Less, that means you will not go as fast, dont listen to these people, if you go 60 mph now, your will go 55-58 with the smaller tires, not 65, with 23 inch you will accelerate slower but you will go 68-73 mph, SMALLER MEANS FASTER ACCELERATION, AND LESS SPEED

Exactly! I got 20" tires becuz the Pure Sports only made the Bandits in 20". Now they have 22", but I didnt want to wait. If you can get the same size tires do it, other wise just get a tooth on the countershaft sprocket....costs about $14....peace

O.k man, listen up...how in the world do you think the top speed of a warrior is only like 56 mph. The top speed of 400EX is only like 64. K'mon man the top of a 300EX is 55, Blaster 55, Mojhave 55, Banshee 74, 250r 70, and even a sport utily-Wolverine 350 is 58mph. If only you new your stuff you would know 20in. all-traks are really 22in tires. How would you know my Warrior is faster(in top speed) then a 400EX when I drag raced my friend on his(in stock form) for like a mile and won by like ten quad lengths. Also I said ((15tooth counter shaft sprocket)) not 14. I hope you now understand me...

Gravity, you're on crack!! Ok, you say a Wolverine goes 58?? What you smokin??? Same engine as the Warrior, but its heavier!! So its gonna go like 5-8 mph under the Warrior! And Blaster is like 53, 300EX is 52 Mojave under that....so you got some info wrong. Maybe with a 15 tooth you can hang with a 400EX, I dont know, but you need a lot of mods to do it!
