Drowned my yfz
#1
Got in a little wreck today and ended up in a canal. My bike was upside down completely submerged. I already drained the oil, took out the carb, took off the intake and cleaned that all out. I still have a lot of water in my cylinder. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas of what i should do before i start it up.
Thanks

This happened to me a few years back as well. What we did was we took the whole pipe and silencer off, took out the spark plug, stood it up on the grabbar, and pushed the start button, then we COMPLETELY drained the gas tank, and ran kerosene through the oil, waited for it to dry and did it again, waited for it to dry again then put some new oil in it and gas. It fired up just like it did when i got it, hope this helps.

That is EXACTLY what I did on my old blaster. Worked like a charm, and started just like it did before.

Keep a close eye on your oil make sure it dosent turn milky .
water can be a real pain to remove on a 4 stroke . The kerosene is a good start as a last resort drain the oil put your machine up on it's side and fill it with alcohol it will grab any water in the engine .You have to fill it full! then drain it and run a air hose into the drain to vent off the alcohol then oil it up and crank it a few times with out the plug wire on to help reprime the engine . Like I say it's a last resort but sometime water can get trapped in cavitys and it just steams up and then settles back
Good luck

Thanks guys, Im working on it right now. Doing my 3rd oil change.
Thats exactly what happened to me. I was in 3rd gear pinned and up came a real sharp corner. I was on loose dirt so there was no way i was going to make the turn. I just hung on and went straight. Too bad there had to be a big canal up ahead. I rode the bike untill i hit the water. My front tires hit first causing for my bike to flip over and throw me away. I was completely under the water with a helmet on. I ripped my helmet off and could barely see my tires. I reached down flipped it over and pushed it to the side. Then we had to pull it out with a truck.
Im pretty damn sore today.
