HELP!! adjusting valves
#1
OKay so My raptor just got out of break in, and I need to adjust my valves. I removed the valve covers, and set it at TDC and go to stick the feeler in the valve and it wont fit. So I loosen the adjuster one turn, still wont go, loosen it another, still nothin, I had to loosen it 8 threads before the feeler would even go under it. Am I doin somethin wrong?

It sounds like your at the top of the exh. stroke you need to turn the engine over one revolution. Look for the in. valves to go down (open) and then come back up (close) then another half a turn on the crank. Counter clockwise.

And if your feelers won't go in, that may be a sign that ur valve seats have worn in and ut intake clearances are at 0. to fix this, u have to replace your valve shims with thinner ones. Also, like the others said, make sure you are at TDC on the compression stroke.
