had a few probs with the banshee,losing coolant out of the back reservoir,just had a rebore and new pistons due to the fact that the shop did,nt connect the coolant hoses up when i brought it and it stuffed up,now every time i ride after about half an hour when it gets hot i lose all the coolant in the back res, the rad is still full it stays that way untill the end of the ride,then we bring it back home and top it up again untill the next ride when the same thing happens again,the shop said it might be the rad cap which we changed ,the mechanic is now saying the head might need skimming as it could be escaping through there what are your thoughts guys you seem to no much more than me .....thanks

 

I hope they paid for the parts!Banshees are known for overheating,hince all the white residue on your pipes from the radiator overflow.I have never heard of this with a stock head.On a cool head if ya pinch an o-ring or if the head is warped it will puke all the water out the overflow.I don't even run a coolant bottle and I never run low on coolant in the radiator.I don't really know what to tell you because you said it never runs out of water,it only sucks the bottle dry.I'd say it's sucking the excess water out when it needs it and puking the excess out the overflow instead of going back to the bottle.All the Banshees I've ever seen do the same thing.I'd just watch the coolant level for awhile.If your head was warped it would lose all the coolant in the radiator out the overflow in a matter of minutes.I hope this helps,I really don't know whatelse to tell ya.

 

yeh the shop stood the cost of the rebuild,and so they should we had only ridden it for an hour,thanks for your help i will keep an eye on it.............
