Default JE pistons are GARBAGE

The Raptor pistons that is.

Just recieved a crack and hole in the top of my 11:1 JE Piston late Saturday afternoon for the second time. Haven't opened it up yet to verify but I know that's what it is. Died going up comp and oil came out the breather tube. The first failure oil was gradualy getting worse out the breather tube. This one just happened at once. I jetted up 4 sizes on the mains and installed bigger needle valves, Ran 100 octane fuel, no less than 96 at anytime since the new piston. The first one cracked after about 5 rides or so. This one lasted a few months longer. JE will hear from me this time. The first time I thought I might be in error with jetting and or detonation issues. I know possitively that is not the case here. The funny part is, I was talking to a banshee guy that morning at Dumont. His buddy has a Raptor that did the same thing a little while back and I was saying how this one has lasted longer this time blah blah. So much for that.

I seen in your other post that you hoped yama660 didn't get a JE piston and was going to ask you about that. Dang sorry to hear that. Did you or Larry take bigdaddys DS for a spin? I heard it was windy at Dumont.

Larry rode it. I wasn't there yet when he rode his quad. Yes, it was windy. But a windy day there is better than a non windy day here. Larry said it felt fast. But when bigdaddy was running it he was pretty even with CdaleUSA's end cap modded Baja. Cdale isn't no where near as big as Bigddday though. When we left the hill Friday night I think Bigdaddy pulled up to where Mario was parked and got out of his truck. He 's a good size fella, not fat just big.

I did not go with a JE 102mm 11:1 Piston. Mine is the first Craycraft 11:1 102mm Ross Piston set up. And I haven't heard anything bad about Ross yet, but I'm glad everyone talked me out of the JE, and Bob had switched to Ross.
