Default Help, need carb advice...

Finally got my '01 Warrior back from the dealer today, said they had it all fixed, and well after being the 2nd time in and 3 weeks total in the shop time you would think it would run great. Well it don't run worth a crap, as bad as when it first went in. Dies when you hit the throttle, won't idle all kinds of crap. Already spent $130 bucks just in labor to fix this carb and I'm done. I need to know where and what to buy. I'm just gonna get a new carb, screw yamaha's carbs. So give me some advice on what to get. Also is there a big advantage between flat slide's and round slides, mostly all I do is hill climb and trail ride, so low end and mid is what I'm after. Thanks for the help....

Also how important is an accelorator pump in a carb. I know the stock one has it, but I think this is a big problem for this carb, cause it seems to never operate right. I see alot of aftermarket carb's have them, but are like 200 bucks more just to have an accelorator pump...is it that important?

if you spent 130.00 and it still isn't fixed from the dealer, why don't you take it back until its right, I would of never payed the money until I got to ride it to make sure it ran right, you may have problems beyond just the carb, have you tried maybe a specialty shop instead of the dealer that may employ inexperienced younger techs at low rate wages who don't really know what they are doing?

The dealer gave me a runaround for like the whole time they had it, saying they were working on it, had their top tech on it. In my opinion 3 weeks is unacceptable just for a carb job, and they tried to charge me even more then that to boot saying the brand new carb kit I gave them was bad. Got out that though cause they found it was a pc of dirt causing the leak. I don't want to take it back cause I'm afraid they will have it for like another month again and well I want to ride it not let it sit somewhere and not being touched.

I would take it back and ask to talk to the owner, show him/her how the bike runs.If they don't fix it call BBB,also Yamaha headquarters in California and let them know what kind of customer service these people are "NOT GIVING".It really irks me when someone just simply won't do what their paid to do.Good luck.

Check your rubber intake boot to see if it is cracked.A friend of mine has a warrior that started running really bad, turned out to be a cracked intake boot.

it has to be something with the jet and needle. you could start it and get someone to slowly rev it while you adjust the flatblade screw on the bottom of the carb on the side. It will adjust the fuel mixture and that could help. I'd also take the carb off and clean it out good and check the jet to make sure it's clean it could have dirt or even plastic from the tank in it i've seen that before. Hope this helps

Okay, called the dealer back and well of course all they said is bring it in. I said if I bring it in now, how long till you look at it, they said not until April 30th probably cause they are full. That is just a load of crap in my book. It won't even idle 10 seconds now, it coughs and dies. Turned the screw on the bottom, for one the dealer had it set about 5 turns out, so I set it back to 2, which is close to what it should be at, and still nothing different.

have you taken the carb apart and looked how clean it was inside? Plus you need to make sure the jet isn't stoped up.
