I'm thinking it must be a twin, otherwise how the hell could it be so much faster than the Raptor?

Huh, guess that old saying 'no replacement for displacement' isn't true with Yamahas??

Thanks for the answer.

ah no, raptor has monstrous torque on top end and would likely keep up with it, the yfz is so damn fast cuz its got a damn good setup, not bad stock pipe, good compression and its light

Exactly what i was getting at... Just imagine what a rappy would be like if it had some bigger carbs and a better compression stock.. It would eat the new 450's for lunch. no offence

The reason a stock YFZ is faster (or at least as fast as) a 660 Raptor in not just because of revs or compression or power, but because it is about 50 pounds lighter. Now put a 12:1 piston and a better cam in the Raptor to be similar to the specs for the 450, and it will surely make up for the weight.

BTW, if you have the money, there is alot more potential power hidden in the Raptor motor than in the YFZ motor. With enough money you can get 70-80 HP out of the Raptor, but the YFZ 450 is already so highly tuned that 60-65HP will probably be pretty hard to get, if possible at all. JMO.

I think you are thinking if it was a twin that it would have two 450cc cylinders, but that would be a 900cc. If it was a twin, each cylinder would be 225.

Quit comparing it to the raptor! Put the same set up on a Raptor and it will beat the YFZ, DUH! Now put 660cc on the YFZ and it will beat the Raptor. If they put the same stuff on a raptor, then why call it a YFZ and not just a raptor? Different bikes and thats that. Ones faster than the other but they both are awesome bikes!

If they were to put a twin cylinder 350 motor on a blaster, with duals, and bigger carbs, it would be faster than the BANSHEE! DOYYYY

I am all about the argument.

I think it goes back to my argument I have with friends about whats faster Trans AM or a 03' Cobra. Stock for stock the Cobra is gonna win since it push close to 400hp were an F-body is in the low to mid 300s. I say take the Super Charger off the Cobra and what happens? The F-body has the displacment and smokes the cobra. Or add a Charger onto the F-body? What happens, the F-body smokes the Cobra again.

Its all in the displacment.......
