i have had a '04 raptor 660r for a little over 6 months and i added a gyt-r silencer with the stock header and it's been running fine, until about a couple of weeks ago it started making a pinging noise that seems like it's coming from the header bolt area. does anybody have any ideas of what to check before taking it into the shop?

 

My Raptor started making a noise like that...turned out it was the GYTR skidplate rattling....hope thats what your is doing too.

 

i think i've heard it too mines all stock it's coming from the front just don't know where might not be the same noise though.

 

I will check the skid plates out, but they are the stock skid plates since i haven't upgraded yet, thanks for your help.

 

Get a long screw driver put the handle to your ear and move the blade around on the Engine in the area of the noise until you pin point it

pit your finger in the pipe and spin the spark arrester. this happened to me on a ride one day and caused me to go home. when I found it i was pissed. hope this helps.
