ALWAYS needs the choke
#11
I checked the pilot and it seems fine. I also found that the mixture screw was cranked out a bit so i turned it in but it still wanted the choke. Anyone else. . ? I've tried everything and can't seem to find out what is going wrong. I haven't changed the jetting and it wasn't doing this before so im kind of lost and don't know what to try next.

I can't see it, but I guess it could happen. Where would it be loosing compression? From the head? I just put in a new head gasket when I shaved the head. It dosn't feel (power wise) like it has lost compression. Maybe I will get it checked. With the head .040 over what should it roughly be?

Should the jetting be changed when i shaved the head?
When I put in the new head gasket I torqued it to spec. After riding for a while should i re-torque it? Could this be the problem?

They say you should re torque the bolts after the first few hours....But I always check and find them to be just fine.
I'm guessing you only shaved a little bit off the head....So I would not think that the compression changed all that drastically....but is it possible you need to jump to a higher octane fuel for the new compression?.
I can't remember what compression was on my blaster when I had it....I just looked in the shop manual and cannot seem to find the answer...It must be there.

Sounds like Pilot jet or compression is to low to me also You need to remove the carb and make sure the pilot passage is clean and not partialy blocked . Throw a new plug at it if you havent allready .
Good luck . By the way your compresion needs to be above 100 psi minimum

Ya thats another thing i was thinking, was that the compression could be low, Thats what it was liek on my CR when it needed a re-build,
I have a compression testeer chad , maby we will have to set it up and try it
