The Grizz is faster and looks better. When going down hill 4WD you will have engine braking on all four wheels with the Grizzly. Not so, with the Polaris. The instrument panel is much better ( digital) on the Grizzly than the crappy speedo on the Sportsman. I just got my Grizzly (Steel Blue) and I love it. I heard the Polaris puts paper air filters in there ATVs. I don't know if this is true, but maybe someone else would know for sure. Yamaha will pay you $75 to take a safty test, Polaris won't pay a dime. if the test is required in your area you will have to pay as much as $100 to take it if you buy the Polaris. GET THE GRIZZ!

I cant say much about the AC. But I was in your shoes a few months ago before I got my grizz. Im so happy I went with the grizz.
Better looks, I tell it when to go into 4wd, same price same towing.
On a side note after owning the grizz and riding my friends sp500 ive found out 5 things.
Then sp rides a little smoother.. not alot, but its noticeable.
The grizz will smoke the crap out of the sp500
the grizz is easier to clean
the sp is more stable at high speeds and is not as tippy as the grizz in crazy off camber stuff.
The grizz's engine braking is about 5 times as good as the SP
The grizz has some loose steering at high speeds that tends to wander. And I have almost rolled over a few times because of the top heavy weight.
Hope this helps

Most of my useage will be hunting. Travelling on old logging roads and behind gated areas.
I'd say all out wide open throttle will not be much of my riding.
I'll also be doing some off road exploring, where roads don't go.
Not really into mud bogging.

Just remember , the sportsman wont engage the 4x4 untill the rear tires spin 1/5 of a revolution , and if you go down a hill the eng. braking will only be the rear tires . I had lots of polarasses and I can tell you I will never buy another one ! Mine always sucked water in the belt and I replaced the seals and siliconed the engine housings and it still sucked water . The only thing they are good for is ease of riding ( they are comfortable ) BUT you can find the same ride in a grizz or ac
