I recenty bought a 98 grizzly, ran good for 30 miles, other night riding on a pipeline it died. It will crank up and idle, but when I give it gas it dies. It will run about 10-15 mph choking it, if I take the choke off it will die. I changed the plug and checked the vent lines on carb, and cleaned the carb, nothing helped. I am thinking about trying to clean the carb again, does any have any suggestions?

 

Check to make sure the gas cap vent isnt kinked.

 

Check your powervalve or check or cams and chain!! my dad said your carb could be srewed up so try to find another one!!

 

I checked the vent line, I will have to take somewhere to get the rest checked. I was searching for more information after posting, and saw where a Warrior had a similiar problem and it had to do with the parking brake wires shorting out, I am going to check that and hope thats it.

 

You say itll start and idle.....but if you take the choke off, itll die. Will it only idle with choke on?
Check the fuel level, its acting like its low on gas, try reserve.

 

Sounds like you are getting too much air / not enough gas. Clogged main jet perhaps? Also check to be sure the carburetor boot between the air filter and the carburetor is tight and completely sealed…

 

Thanks for the help. I completely took the carb apart today and the needle was broke right below the clip.

 

wow, ive never heard of that happening...any idea on how it broke?

 

I don't know, but you can tell where it has been wearing the needle down. Where it broke, it wasn't 1/4 the size of the needle.
