Default YFZ Defects?

Is there any problems with the yfz450's from the factory, Im considering buying one this summer and I would like to know any problems they may have. I know they are good on teh track, but how well do they do on technical trails.

Thank You,
Brandon

Possible exploding piston....

Common ones are water pump seals and minor things. Nothing that is really a bother or a reason not to get the bike.

I am 5'11" and it seemed small to me. Then again, I'm used to a raptor's size.

I'm 5"10 and it's not comfortable for me either it seems small. I guess I'm use to my Raptor big and spacious just like me

I way about 200 pounds, I was looking at a 450r, but I just think the yfz is a little bit better. My 400ex fits me perfect, I just want something updated. A raptor don't handle like I want, a 650ex would be nice, but I shouldn't hold my breath, my 440ex beats z/kfx 400's and I like my handling better, so Im left with one of the 2 450's. But I am not going to spend all that money on something to small for my long *** legs.

Any tall guys own one?

It IS a small quad, but it was designed to be. Raptors, Predators, DS's, etc are better built for larger guys, but the Yfz was designed to be a full-on race quad. It was purposely built small so it would be easy to man-handle and muscle around. There are plently of guys that run the Yfz's that are on the large side. The most common modifications seem to be to get a taller steering stem, and a tall bar. I've also even heard of guys cutting and rewelding the mount points for the footpegs lower on the frame. If you take the time to set it up(even with just bolt on products) you can make it fit you fine. I would've gotten one myself if I could've come up with the extra grand. The 450 has a weep hole problem ..... probably stems from the coolant pump. I have experienced first hand. after consulting various sources they determined a new gasket would fix the problem.

I'm 6'0" and yes sometimes it does get cramped, but the speed and control are well worth it.
