I would check the plug first but when mine did that, I went down a size and it worked... I am not runnung the full exhaust though... only a slip on.I dont know if your elevation has anything to do with it but we are at like almost sea level or just below. I know at 5000 feet things change.

Caliraptor and Sixsixt are probably your best resource for this kind of stuff but elevation may have something to do with it

I would go with a 165/170 and work down if you are running rich. The backfiring means your lean on your idle circuit or you have a leak some place(carb boots or exhaust leak), so just go with the next biggest pilot jets and turn them at 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 or 2 and 2 1/4. Every time you rejet it would be good if you checked your floats in case you bumped them or something. Get some new spark plugs and ride around and do the plug check when you change your jetting, that way you can tell what is going on. Take note if it feels like if its boggin/cutting out at certain RPMs and let us know what happens so we can help you out.

I was having the same trouble with my 01 Rappy after i installed a full FMF exhaust. A few of you guys, including sixsixt gave me a lot of advise. My float level was way high. I used the clear tube method,,,have the level right at the bowl and carb body mating surface,150-155 mains, third clip on the needles, and 2 3/4, 3 turns out on the air screws. I am runnung the stock airbox & filter , with the flaps trimmed out of the snorkle. Never touched the pilots. Shes runnin strong now,,,cant hardly keep the froht wheels on the ground,,,

I have a tendancy to jet based on how the bike is running at a particualr rpm. If it's sputtering at low throttle then generally it's the pilot circuit, at mid its the needle, and at wide open it's the main.

I'm running 148/150 at sea level with no lid and I think I could actually probably go up another step but I'm not dissapointed with the power and don't feel like it's really lacking. I had a problem with mine running rich at mid throttle before I took my airbox lid totally off but now it's all good.

Popping and backfiring on deceleration would tell me that your idle screws are too lean... you need to open them up some. However, if you go up on your pilots, you may actually need to bring your mains down, as well as your idle circuit. It's kinda hard to explain. The more information that you can give us on how it's running and when you're having problems will help us figure out where you need to go with the jetting. With your elevation I would probably go with #25 pilots though.
