I run even with piped banshees. Taller gearing & better tires, that's it.

Im not impressed by the 400ex at all. Honda is all hype. I agree they are good runners, very durable but power wise the 400ex sucks.

OK, I gotta comment on this one. First of all, those of you who think everything depends on the top speed need to grow up. If you buy a quad for the sole purpose of drag racing, it won't stay stock for long anyway. Secondly, everyone needs to realize that there will never be another new model released with a 2-stroke motor. The future is in 4-stroke technology.

If you want to drag race, buy a Banshee and modify it with all the cash you can. The Raptor was never intended for drag racing, but was designed as the ultimate sport ATV. The 660 motor was intentionally meant to produce the best features of both 2-strokes and 4-strokes, and the chassis is meant to surpass the standard set by Honda. The Raptor should appeal to a wide range of riders and top speed is trivial, in my opinion.

What impressed me was the raptors 0-50 times. Anyone remember the Febr 99 issue of ATV Sport? They did a test on a banshee that had been ported, had fmf pipes, new carbs, and mileed the head and it went 0-50 in 6.5 seconds. And stock it went 0-50 11.96. 0-30 was 3.63 stock and 3.03 modified. Now whats weird, is that about a year laster, they did a test on all the sport quads and they were all atleast a second faster than they were before. My guess would be back in 99 they did the drags on dirt but recently they could be doing them on asphault, but if there not doing them on asphault, it looks like the raptor is just as fast as a piped and ported banshee.

My 400 is the first Honda I've owned. I liked the handling and the overall craftsmanship, but it had the power of a tricycle!! Until I piped it and jetted. Now it's much better, but there is NO WAY it'll hang with a Raptor. C'mon guys Yamaha is known for their awesome sport quads. No 4-stroke Honda will even keep up with a Raptor.

talk about a pig........what about that warrior. we have no right to bash the raptor without riding it ourselves...........all of this talk about this bike beating that bike etc. seems childish to me. 99% is the guy riding. i could probably take an old honda 200x more places than most people on $6000.00+ quads, so who cares which one is faster.........question is, do you have the nads to follow me, and will you & your bike make it home in one piece?

400exrydr, you need a 440 kit. Makes the 400 a whole new bike. Yes, top end isn't everything, but unless you race MX, Comp Hill is the only way to measure performance

If the 400 is such a wonderful bike, then how come is the classifieds full of them for sale? Because people bought em and they weren't cracked up to be all that!!! I outrun them all day long stock-for-stock on my warrior and the 400's really aren't that great for woods riding either without reverse.
