2003 banshee reving problem
#1
I was wondering if any banshee owners have ever had ther banshee overrev to the sky while slowing down... just tonight i found my quad to over rev as i have the clutch pulled in and are applying the breaks.. it seems to do this while slowing to a speed of about 30km-15km.. if that helps at all.. The bike has only about 8 tanks of gas run threw it so nothing should be toast yet..
thanks for any help you might have : )

Oh yeah i downshift.... as a decrease speed/. perhaps i should have mentioned that... I was thinking it could be something with the clutch.. but im open for any ideas.. its rather annoying..

yeah its normal if u downshift, but if u have the clutch held in it shouldnt do that.when ur downshifting use brakes before downshifting to a really low gear when going fast so u wont rev high
im saying this is normal

If the revs increase when you shift into a lower gear...that's normal while moving.
If the revs are increasing when you pull in the clutch or even stop the machine....you have a problem with a sticking cable, air leak, lean jetting...could be many things.

Thanks.. i was wondering about the clutch sticking.. again this definitly can;t be normal, i always use the clutch when downshifting, and i know that if your going to fast for the gear you selected and let go of the clutch it will rev high.. thats not the case.. if i didn't know how to use a clutch i sure as hell wouldn't be riding a banshee.. lol that wouldn/t be too safe..
thanks for the input

I think you said it just started happening right? You seem to know enough to check the simple things...but we all miss things from time to time.
Make sure the vent tube between the carbs is hooked up.
Carb caps are on nice and tight.
No leaks on the carb boots or any part of the intake or exhaust.
Check to see if it's possible that the throttle cable is getting stuck when you turn the bars. (dealers don't like to lube cables)
Make sure the throttle stop screw on the thumb throttle assembly is adjusted right...if it is open too far it will allow you to push the throttle beyond it's limits...causing the springs in the carb/tors assembly to bind.
Good luck...I'm sure you will find it.
