I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING!

ok, my friend and i have agreed to build a drag wheeler and we decided on a banshee. i need to know any information that anyone knows about draging a banshee(custom frames, tires, rims, boring, porting, nitrous, ANYTHING & EVERYTHING). what is good, what's not. what works best, anything. i dragged my DS650 and he dragged his banshee and we both did reasonably well, but there were some crazy banshees there and now we are in need. also, if anyone has a banshee frames, motor, entire wheeler, or just anything to do with banshees for sale, let me know. thank you for your time.

i'm sure that i'm gonna need the ear plugs. anyone with any info gimmie a reply. actually, we have a frame somewhat mapped out. we are shortening the swingarm a few inches so you are basically sitting directly above the tires and extending the front end somewhere between 12" to 24". we found a few ideas when we went to the drags and that seemed to be the most poplular and the most effective.

It sounds like you are on the right track. The big question is... How much are you willing to drop into this project? There are alot of options and alot of ways to make bikes FAST, but they are also very expensive!

By shortening the swingarm, you will need a heavy duty wheelie bar because when you sit directly above the wheels, you are getting the most traction on the rear end, and the wheelie bar has to withstand the weight of the rider and the full amount of power from the motor. That would make a lot of extra weight for the bike. It will also cause the front end to become "squirrelly". There will also be no weight to hold the front end down. Have you ever rode a 4 wheeler fast with someone heavier that you on the back? Try to steer it! If the wheelie bar breaks, you will have a wild ride "behind" the bike instead of "on" it. I myself, would extend the swingarm. Good luck though. Like to see pics of that as your working on the project.

I guess its all in how fast you are wanting to go. You said it in your post..."you will get max traction" and that is what you want. You can extend the swing arm and run a wheelie bar, but if you run a machine with real power then you will still be pulling the front end up when you run. Either that or you are going to be in and out of the gas trying to keep the front end on the ground anyway.

i am most definitly putting a wheelie bar on it, i know it is going to add some weight but, you gotta do what you gotta do. no matter what i do, i'm gonna have a problem keeping the front end on the ground. i talked to many people that drag banshees and all of them say shorten the back and lengthen the front. by extending the swing arm, you may have less of a chance with a wheelie, but you are also losing traction by having less weight on the back tires. it's basically set up like a real drag car. everything is in the back, with a long narrow front end. i know my wheelie bar is going to have to be able to withhold a lot of weight otherwise there is no reason in building it up. and i will have photos up of every step along the way.
my friend and i just purchased a frame yesterday so hopefully that will be shipped here by next week. that will be painted a very deep kinda like a blood red. and the plastics we're not really sure about yet. thanks for all the help so far. . . keep it coming. no matter how much i research, and pay attention to everything, someone else always seems to have a little bit more info that i can use. thank you again!
