STUPID YFZ OIL PLUG THINGY!!!!!
One in our group had this happen at Glamis over ML King Weekend. Stock bike with a pipe.
History:
It is only on the YFZ450 NOT THE RAPTOR!
This is NOT the oil drain plug. This is the plug that goes in the valve cover above the exhaust. It is there because it is the same valve cover as the one they used on the YZ426F dirt bike. They don't come on the new YZ450F dirt bikes.
The reason for the hole in the YZ426F valve cover is this is where the MANUAL compresson release was connected.
Why it is still there, no idea!
If it were me, I wouldn't order one. . . I would order two. . . Or order one stock one (they are less than $5 each) then order one from the Thumper Talk site.
Sounds like Yamaha is back-ordered on the stock ones so getting one from Thumper Talk may be a better idea. I'ld still get a second one.
May be a good idea to put a little Yamabond on it. Wonder if that is the dealer trick?

Another couple reasons to buy an extra. . .
1. The are cheap!
2. If someone you didn't know needed one to save their weekend you could make a new friend
3. Ask the guy in 2 above for $10 to cover the part. . . you've just made a few bucks and probably still a new friend.
Not trying to sound greedy. If you are going to order another spare to keep in your spare parts chest, it is fair to be compensated a small sum for your time and effort to go the the dealer to get the part. When you look at the time and miles driven, paying an extra $7 for the part is a pretty good deal for the guy that lost the plug.

right on Dune me...i keep a spare with me for just that reason. if someone had one at the track i was at. i would have gladly paid $20. instead, i had to load up three quads and drive 1.5 hr (3hrs round trip). thats a tank of gas. $50 (i'm getting pissed all over again just thinking about it)
