I have a 2004 raptor with a ct pipe and i was thinking myself fast.
But today a friend of mine came with his 2003 raptor with his newly installed GYTR full pipe.
He take my quad and i take his. Damn his quad is faster than mine!!!!
we have the same gearing setup.
My quad have a little more bottom end but he have more top end so in first gear we are even and after that in about 900 ft i have like 1 and a half bike lenght ahead of him .
His bike has been jetted by the dealer and I jetted mine with only the shootout from dirt wheel for info.
I've installed a 175/170 jet combo "no lid" no touch to anything else.
damn damn damn !!!!!!!
I don't want to spit on GYTR stuff but I've not been supposed to be faster than him.
He jetted like (if i remember) 155/160 with is lid on.
Somebody help me im desperate.
I live near montréal (québec)Canada

Tinymonkey- CT= Crap. Sorry that you fell for the old dirtwheels paid shootout. Now the good news. Most piped raptors can be tuned to run about the same.
Why do you think the GYRT would be no good? Or as good or better than the other aftermarket companies? You would think that yamaha has more resources and engineers to work on hop up parts as compared to the smalled aftermarket shops. Ever notice how the trinity stage 4 exhaust looks the same for all lines. lol Most aftermarket shops just call a pipe maker and tell them to stamp the name of there shop on something that will fit.
Back to your pipe. Does it have a end cap or does it use disc?

Something is wrong with your setup for sure. No way any Raptor with a lid should run one without a lid. And given you said he had the lid, I would expect him to have more bottom end than you. Your torque curve should come on later in the RPMs thus giving you more pull in the higher RPM range.
I am not familiar with CT but I will generalize. Full exhaust systems do not always help a stock engine more than a slip-on. Would it make you feel any better if you purchased a slip-on and it came with a new headpipe so you could call it a full exhaust? Generally, you need motor mods to take advantage of a full, free flowing exhaust system. Without them, you are just hurting your performance.
Call CT and find out what jetting they recommend given your setup and elevation. What about your air filter? Is it stock?

No I have a pro design air filter .
This spring He has only his slip on and I was faster than him so he benefit from his header pipe.
I think I will bring my quad to the dealer to be adjusted.
And on the modification side i plan to add a cam soon so let me know your opinion.

Today i've decide to do a little jetting.
I've run with the gas wide open ,kill it and check my plug. It was not white but very very light brown all over so I've figured i'm a little lean, so i've tried to put my lid on but it was acting like my limiter was on ,so i've remove my stage 2 foam, to no good.
I've tried small hole and big hole until it does not bog down.
The spark plug was again very pale .Then i' ve put tape on some hole to try to cut some air from it but to no good .
I've even email ct racing for advice on jetting but the only thing they say to me is that i need their jetting kit.
I've raced my buddie with his GYTR raptor again today and on top spedd with the same gearing he was like 2 to 3 miles faster than me .
I like my raptor but in time like that i think i was better to buy a banshee.
