Raptor FIXED FINALLY
#1
For those of you who were kind enough to help me out a few months ago, I thank you again.
For those of you who dont know, heres the skinny.
I put a hc stg1 in the raptor and it was running great. I then installed an 11:1 Std bore wiseco and all hell broke loose. I had oil everywhere, busted head bolts, blew the tappet cover off, had less than 1/2 of stock compression, and more. This all haunted me and all my helpers since january.
Fast forward to a month ago. I finally took another look at the cam and things didnt look right. So I gave it to a friend who happened to be the former head mechanic at the yamaha dealer that shut down. He confirmed the suspicion that I had formed after input from the members of this forum. The decomp pin had been lodged out and was beating up on my valves. After replacing the pin, a valve, and reseating it, it has been running great. I took it out over memorial day and beat all but 2 four strokes that i could find to race. One was a custom crf450r in 250 chassis and the other was a heavily built yfz with more money in suspension than I had in my entire bike.
I just wanted to say thank you again to the raptor guys.

good to hear ur running again...Stg1 HC and a 11:1 Wiseco piston is a good setup, Ive had it for a while and I recommend it to anyone who wants to add power on a limited budget. I got my cam for $100(ebay), 100mm piston for $115(local shop), Cometic gaskets $60(rocky mountain)..so for roughly $300 and a little bit of your time, you can have a quad that will outrun most quads.
