Default Painting Plastics

I painted my plastics using Krylon Fusion...3 coats of the paint and 1 coat of clear on my Fenders, and gas tank cover.....it wore off pretty much....I heard you are not supposed to use clear coat with this Fusion stuff....is that true? Is there anything else that will work? Do they sell Krylon Fusion in 1gallon cans not just spray cans?

Please help me here guys
Later,
Warrior68Man

I started painting my plastic with fusion and was not impressed at all. I ended up using rustoleum plastic primer and then just regular rustoleum black and then a clear coat it held up much better than fusion.

you pay for what you get with spray cans...crap, then again, does it really matter if your gonna get all your plastics all scratched up anyways?

I have used the krylon fusion with good results. Sanded out any scratches, then used "Oops" cleaner to final clean before painting. Now the can says 7 days to harden to be chip-resistant. I did a rear set of fenders over 6 weeks ago that have held up to 2400 psi pressure wash after every ride. I let them sit for a week before I put 'em on. However I was given a front fender for my project quad on friday and decided to paint them blue to match rears, (were red). Went riding sunday and although not planning on taking it I did so I threw the front fenders on. I did not expect the paint to hold up to the pressure washer at the end of the day. Suprise..Nothing peeled or chipped when I cleaned it.

I just figured sicne I had some left in the cans I would just touch it up...I don't really care about scratches but when the blue starts to show...it starts to get to me and makes me not want to ride.....almost..
