Default Banshee Reliability?

How long can you go between rebuilds if you keep up the maintanence? Also, are they anything i should look for if i do decide to go look at one for sale?

Banshee's are tough to keep together. They are very sensitive to jetting and how you run them. Some people can get them to hold together good, and others have problem with detonation.

Ours held up for a good 3 years before the top end went out... Then when we opened it up we saw the cranks were almost shot . But that was our fault... not the Banshees.

1996 banshee...bought it new in 97.

rebuilt the top end during the winter of 2000 and again this spring. No crank issues and one set of clutch plates in almost 8 years. I would say that banshees hold together just fine.

bring a compression tester with you and make sure that it's hitting on both cylinders.

compression should be around 120psi in each cylinder.

i have to tighten bolts up every now and then on it, lube it up, go over it, make sure everything is safe, tighten the chain every other ride. Then again, I beat my quad like a little redheaded step-child. It takes a beating and likes it. I also ride trails just fine on it

The reliability has a whole lot to do with jetting. Run it lean and the top end not only gets hot, but it dosent get enough oil. Can always run it a touch fat to be safe.

I always run mines borderline too rich and takes a few minutes to clean up at WOT the first ride out of the day after that it cleans up and screams and takes a beating from me and then gives one to my competitors
