Im in the process of getting togtehr the parts for a turbo raptor, What I need to know is, do the turbo raptor kits come with carbs, or does it NEED to switch to fuel injection? meaning, will a carb work with boost? I allready have the turbo setu i need, and will be making all my own pipes.

you can use a carburator, smokey yunik used to turbo charge a destroked small block chevy(292c.i. or something crazy like that) and he had over 1,000hp, with a carb. Anyway, you know what size turbo your gonna use? t25? I don't know if the kits come with carbs, but i'd imagine you would have to upgrade. you may want to drop your compression a bit, either that, or run less boost, like 4psi.

oh yeah, don't let anyone talk you out of doing this either. East Coast ATV had a turbo banshee, 125rwhp out of a stock motor. Its the way to go.

Raptor670 have you spoken with Kelly @ KMS about their turbo raptor kit? IF the T12 is the same as the Garrett GT12 you will damage your top end and won't make any real power. IF you want variability in boost go with EFI or everytime you change boost you'll need to re-jet. Kelly spent 2 years with turbo systems on carbs with very limited success, call him so you can make an informed decision going into the project. A four stroke single can be turbo charged with a great deal of success if done correctly, my ds is putting out amazing power ( approx 100hp) with only 11lbs of boost I picked up two full gears on our comp hill , talk about a rush to ride! Save yourself time and money and a lot of aggrevation and talk to the best atv turbo builder in the US at KMS. Good luck with your project - it's worth it!

Also the T 25 is a little too big, the correct turbo selection is key to a broad torque curve and big power at low boost levels, the lower the boost the better the engine will hold together. Kelly puts out over 82hp with about 10psi on a stock raptor and over 100 on built ( big bore) Raptors with the same boost level. Do you already have the carillo rod in? The stock rods dont handle 80hp very well
Just as a point of reference a stock Raptor makes about 30hp/30 ft lbs on his dyno and a stock DS about 32hp/32ftlbs so his dyno isn't very generous at all.
