Ordered the piston, gaskets, and jets today from Bob. Should be really soon that I'll have a whole new 686 ride report. I enjoyed figuring out the 11:1(even though I have only had it 2 months)! LOL. But now it's time to step into the world of 110-116 race gas, and high compression. Should be fun dialing in the new piston and breaking everything in again. I guess the next thing I'm looking into is the Megacycle 280X4 cam.

Don't let anyone tell you that building a Raptor isn't addictive.

Might as well make the leap to alky while you're at it, you've got the compression for it and it's cheaper than race gas.

Hey, that reminds me of a good head gasket trick. Spray your head gasket, both sides, with Felpro copper spray. Let it dry before you install. Learned it from a guy that builds monster big block Buicks. Like a big block Buick, I don't think a Raptor head has a great deal of clamping force and every little bit helps. Felpro copper spray and 31 ft/lbs should do the trick:-)

I'm not hopping on the alky train yet. It seems like a hassle, but it's not out of the question. The trail riding is just about completely shot. I stripped all the skids and took everything I could off of it to lighten it up. So it's almost all drag now.......I'm figuring Tuesday/Wenesday it will be all drag.

you will like it alot...
I certainly hope so. I'll update a new ride report next week. Piston is supposed to be here Tuesday.

Thanks for the secret. I'll make sure and check that out. The gaskets I'm using are the 102mm Cometic HP.
