I've got a 00 Kodiak...Love it except for short life span of rear brakes.
I have seen a lot of posts about some of these bikes having problems with the water pumps...I would like to know if anyone else out there is having this problem, and where and what do I check out to see if mine has a problem. Also, what is causing this problem? Someone told me that it was due riding in deep water and mud...I had mine in several feet of water and mud a few weeks ago, that's why I wanna check it out
Thanks

Mine has about 200 miles on it with no leaks and brakes holding up good. I would think you would see a puddle under the engine somewhere if you had any kind of leak. I do recall someone saying, if a small hole/vent to the water pump gets plugged up this leak thing might happen. Maybe someone can shed some light on this subject in depth.

I have read the same as JHAM, some early models had a water pump seal problem. After serious mud riding (following my buddies on their SP500) I always go to the trouble to unbolt the rear disc brake and wash out the pads and disc. You would be amazed at the sand and crud that is trapped in the assembly even after a good wash job. Remove two bolts and really clean the brake assembly, it just slips back on, install the two bolts and clean as new. No problem after 11 months and the K00 even made it through the Marengo ride.
