#1
the dumba$$ i bought this thing from didnt ever do ANY maintenance to the bike.. and the swing arm bearings are totally gone.. and theres like a inch- inch and a half of play and i cant have that, i didnt realize how much could go wrong (stupid me i know) and i think i tore the ring/pinion outta it.. how the hell do i get this swingarm off.. ive got the caps off, got the lock nuts off, now the pins are with a allen wrench, and i broke 2 mac allen keys trying to get this thing out.. how is it done?
I need to get all this off to replace the bearings and to fix whatever else broke...
if ya know please feel free to tell me
thanks in advance

You broke TWO Macs trying to loosen those bolts!?!?!
Should've got SnapOn. j/k
I use a SnapOn allen head socket to get them out and have never broken one seriously, and I know Mac tools are good, so either you happened upon a really stubborn bolt, or your tools were just ready to go.
To remove the swingarm for bearing replacement, remove the lower rear shock bolt, brake cables from the caliper, and then remove the two pivot bolts with the allen heads. Then roll the swingarm assembly backwards. This will allow the slipjoint on the drive shaft to come loose.
On the old Tri Motos, the swingarm bearing on the driveshaft side is in a blind hole, so unless you have one around, you will need to take it to someone with a bearing removal tool to get it out.
Yamaha used tapered needle bearings in those models, and really don't hold up that well. Honda uses a ball bearing on the TRX300 models and it is a direct fit into the old Yamahas. I would recommend you swap to the better bearings if you plan on keeping this thing for awhile.
Alos, if this thing has been ridden with bad bearings for a long time, the collars between the pivot shaft and bearings will likely need replacing. Don't foget to check them. Even the pivot shaft itslef will sometimes wear on the ends.
Good Luck.

ok, i used a regular allen the first time and the seocnd time i bought the socket head one and it snapped that one also.. ive tried heat, and bangin on em to try to get em out with no luck.. do they make a allen type breaker bar? its startin to bug me about what could be makin this thing jump around like it does.. im hoping its somthing simple as like the shaft fell out and its smackin against somthing.. im damn near ready to drill em out cuz i dunno what else to do, and i have a bearing press and tools to remove all kinds of bearings..

If the bike was new it would just back out. Sounds like it's siezed in there pretty good. I think you need to soak it in wd 40 or kroil for a week straight. If it still won't come out use more heat. I would try to get that pivot a dark red color then use a hex socket with breaker bar to get it loose. Just keep trying.
I think you're having the same problem I had. the rear end goes up and down AND side to side. I took it apart and found the bearing busted and fell down the drive tube. The end of the pivot bolt was all chewed up like someone else said. bike bandit should have that part for about 11 bucks.
hope that helps.
