i'm thinking about changing my 01' raptor for a new 450 what do u think? the main reason i want to change is the suspension on the yfz and because i bought my raptor used and i think some of the other guys problems are starting to show. is the suspension on a yfz really good or if i put aftermarket suspension on my raptor would it be simular?

if shocks are your problem, then get new ones. what other problems are you having?
a yfz does have a hard seat. if you like to sit down and ride alot, then this is not your bike. a raptor is way more comfy. i dont know how much better the 05 yfz is supposed to be.

on the rear wheel hubs the guy did something really weird he like tried to weld them on or something and it looks really crappy and on top of that the rear left hub is all loose. sometimes when i'm cruising in like 2nd gear i hear weird sounds from the engine, like i'll be cruising and then i'll loose power for just an instant and the engine will make one quick sound like its gulping for air. i know i could fix these things nothing major is wrong but the yfz looks so sweet, the thing that i'm dreading is having to buy a pipe, filter, nerfs, paddles

It would probaly be cheaper to update a few things on the rappy then to get raped by a dealership in trying to trade in and get a yfz450. You can find you a good set of front shocks on ebay, and get a new rear axle with hubs. That will take care of those problem's. As for the motor, check your spark plug and see how it's running.

Then install a new plug, and if it's not done yet, install a good pipe kit, jet the carb's up, remove the air box lid and install a k&n filter.

i was lookin around on ebay and some good shocks will run me like 2k plus a 500 axle. pluse i would have to try to figure out how to put this stuff on myself which i've never done. are elka shocks a lot better than the ones stock on the yfz? also if i got the elka shocks would i later be able to get extended a arms and maybe a swingarm and use the same shocks?
