i just went to change the pilot jets to 25s and none of the shops had one that looked like mine. the 25s that the shop had were larger id but the bottom of the jet (the shank with the holes in it) was a smaller outside dia. the overall length of the jet was the same. my ? is does the OD of the shank matter?

If it's a 25 pilot and the right length it shouldn't matter. The one you took out does say 22.5 on it doesn't it? The left carb has a jet for the choke, and some have confused the two.

 

yes it says 22.5 on both the pilots. i was just suprised to see the bottom was larger on the 22.5s. i was not sure if the tolarence between the shank ( or what ever that part of the jet is called) and what it goes into had to be close or not. The length and everything else was the same though. thanks for the help.ps i didn't change them but will i need to when i put in a stage one hot cam, also will i need to change the mains again? fuul yosh pro design/K&N no lid. with 170-175 as rec. by yosh.
