Funny you mention building a custom cart/bike....
I still remember the whooping I got from my dad about 20 years ago when he came home from work early one day and found that I had taken the engine off his brand new mower and mounted it in an old go cart frame I found in the trash.... I thought for sure I would have it back in the mower before he got home.
Thats how my whole facination with tinkering began....that is after I was able to sit again.

xj4me, please keep me posted on that b/c i am going to be using some of my old 250x parts, axle, and such. email me when your finished, it would be cool to see what you did and how good it runs. the only problem i am having right now in the thinking process is finding a big enough motor to where it will go fast but not be deadly and try to keep it so its an automatic. btw, i will check out those cart engines from yamahas site.......thanks all

I have a little mini bike in the barn that uses a 3.5 horse briggs engine. It is totally built from scratch. We rounded up parts from all kinds of things to make that project possible, Bicycle handlebars, Go-cart wheels and tires, the engine is off of an lawn edger ( which worked perfectly fine before the motor got robbed, this just seemed like a better use for it), a square tubing frame, and old military ammuntion boxes for saddlebags, yeah saddlebags. Now that i have read this i am going to go home dig it out and fix.
