Default banshee shocks

ok here is the situation. i moved recently and starpped my quad down good. i tied the front down till it compressed the front shocks about 1/4 of the suspension travel. when i arrived at my destination i noticed some oil like fluid had leaked out of my quad somewhere on the front. i origanly thought mabey brake fluid but on close inspection of the quad the brake system checks out ok no fluid lost none leaking anywhere. the only thing i can think of is it had to have come from the shock. but i dont know which one. i tried jumping up and down on the front bumper several times to see if it would leak and it cant get it to do it. is there a way to test it out to see or is this just harmless. the oil had to come from somewhere but im baffled as to where. im a long way from my mechanic and i refuse to let a dealer touch it can anyone out there help me out id hate to take it for a ride to find the hard way that i have no damping on one side.

If the oil came from the shocks then there should have been some oil residue on the shock itself. If you have an 04 shee then your shocks should be fine unless you have wrecked or come down hard from a very long and high jump. Simply compressing the front shocks by tying it down to a trailer should not cause the front shocks to leak. I would bet that your leak is elsewhere.

Make sure its not antifreeze. If a hose was leaking around the radiator it could make a spot around the same area. It is also kinda oily feeling.

Check out the 97' shock in my pics page, It didnt leak any shock fluid so unless your completely unlucky, then it was some other fluid.

be careful riding it though if it is your shock, mine liked to get stuck fully compressed so it would kind of teeter totter on it.
