raptor jetting (please read)

Ok hear is my situation. First my set-up: 02 raptor. full yosh comp R3 no quiet core, no airbox lid, pro design w/ K&N, 12-40 gearing. Now for the jetting. I just got back from Pismo Beach (0 elev.) and was draging a friend, I was runing 170-175 mains with 22.5 (stock) pilots. my friend would pull me by 4-5 bike lengths every time we swaped bikes between three of us and we all thpught my rappy pulled the hardest in low-mid range but felt flat on top. After sitting at the end of the strip we pulled the plug and it looked a little lean. then we took a airbox lid off one of the other raptors and put it on mine and raced 2 more times. with the lid he pulled me by 1-1.5 lengths. we went back to the trailer and re-jettted to 180-185 went back out and swaped wins the rest of the weekend. the only bad thing is now i cant lug it and then pin the throttle to powed out, i have to downshift instead. so for my question how do i get the best of both worlds? Pilots?, Needle?, put the lid back on? thanks for any help.

I run my needle in the 4 groove from the top . The E clip is in the 4 groove counting from the top ( 1 ) going down to # ( 4 )

mine are stock needles and Mikuni jets .
Try the 175 180
after it warms up pull your choke on just a hair . if you have better throttle you can bump up your pilot to a 25 . it's worth a shot
Good luck

outlaw. thanks for the help. I still need to do a plug reading with the 180-185 jetting, and the choke thing sounds good to try also. if anyone else has any opinions or sugestions i would like to hear from you.
