Cheesy A$$ Banshee
i had a similar problem on my 94 banshee, and i was in pretty much the same situation. The quad had done nothing but sit for a couple years until i bought it. it ran pretty good when i got it. one day i was riding it and i was cranking through a field on my way home and it just died, like i hit the kill switch. tried starting it again for about 20 minutes with no results. so i pushed it back to the house and called my buddies dad so he could pick my buddy up at my place. while we were waiting, i fiddled with the quad for a while. had gas, had spark, good to go. got on her, fired it up, and it ran like a champ! for about 15 seconds. then it died and wouldnt start again. turns out my stator went bad. the guy at the repair shop said its not really common at all for a stator to just go, but this one did. but hopefully for your sake its not the stator. it ended up being about 350 bucks without labor. good luck, though. i hope you figure it out.

Never buy a $350 stator from probably your dealer when you can buy one with better windings on it for better lighting from RIcky Stator for about half that or less. My dads was $160 from them. And it has way better lighting.
I know the bike shop said they cleaned the carbs but they dont always do the best job either. My buddy was having some problems with his carbs and he said he cleaned them good. But we told him it sounded like issues in the carb, my dad cleaned them for him and blew them out with air like everyone said on here and now the bike runs top notch.
There are several things that could be wrong, but if you have access to a service manual so that you can eliminate things one by one sometimes that works out and gets you familiar with the bike too.
