Maddog I am running 15/40 with 22 inch ITP's on the 730 Raptor and it loves it. When mine was just piped and jetted it had a 14 tooth sproket on it.

I have piped and jetted several Raptors and all run a 14 tooth front sproket.

My raptor has around 50rwhp and it seemed to dog with the 14/40 setup. I just instaled a +2 swinger and have a 12/41 running on it but its too short. I think that stock or 13/39 would be plenty of gear but I'm open to suggestions. I had been told that you are supposed to go up a tooth on the rear for every inch you add to the swingarm so thats why my gearing is down in the gutter. I'll try a 14/41 and see where it gets me.

14/41 should do the trick for you Maddog. I thought you had to go up one tooth on the rear sproket for one inch of tire heigth. I have been wrong before though!!

I have heard and believe the tire/sprocket setup, but I had heard that it applied to the swing arm as well. Its very possible I am wrong though, as this is my first swingarm change since an 86 Honda 250R and that was -1.

I have commented on gearing the Raptor up before on a stock cam. The 14 tooth front sprocket WILL make the Raptor quicker...even though the tires are not clawing at the sky as much. You are only using the power more efficient. Stage 1 Hot Cam needed about the same gearing. Not until I went too the stage 2 Hot Cam did I have too gear down too stay in the sweet spot and be QUICKER. Guys crack me up thinking they can gear down and be quicker. Anyway, for dragging on the stock cam, I would gear up too the 14 tooth and properly jet the machine. If you do not wanna learn too rejet your atv, then do not pipe it. If you are pumping more air through thats great, but you are not going too gain power until you get more fuel through the engine as well. Proper air / fuel ratio is critical.
