To be quite honest, I would make sure that the problem didnt lie in the carburetor before I went into the more complicated electrical system. Mine did the exact same thing that yours is doing right now and it was a result of a plugged main jet. Dirt or other foriegn matter can easliy have caused this problem. Clean the carb and fuel system good first and then you will know if its a fuel related problem or not. If your battery is dead, take your leads and hook them up directly to a set of jumper cables and then jump it off of your pick-up. This will tell you if its just a dead battery or a bigger problem.
