i think it is stock in 5 th gear, it will go in to the next gear but won't go down? what happend to it?

maybe ur tranny fell apart..... where did u last ride it? might wanna go back there and look for gears, lol

 

no leaks, does not feal difrent just won't down shift?????

 

u might have sheared a tooth or somethin in the tranny...... i dont really know

 

It sound like your shift shaft is locked between two pins on the shift star. If that is it then you should be able to get only one gear up and one gear down and thats it.

Its a pretty common problem on the Banshee.

Your gonna have to pull the clutch cover and check it for sure, if that is the problem then I wouldn't mess with trying to use the same shift
shaft over because you'll just have to do it again later. Once the spring is over stretched it's just a matter of time before you do it again.

The shift shaft cost $36.85 ( Part # 2GU-18101-00-00)

Your going to have to remove the clutch basket to remove the shift shaft so your gonna need a new lock washer.
( Part# 90215-20223-00) Cost $3.65

can any one tell me how to take the clutch out? i got the cover off but don't know what do from there?

 

First you'll have to take off the six springs on the clutch basket and remove the pressure plate. then you will see a large nut in the center, first you'll have to fold back the lock washer that is bent down over the side of the nut. then you need to find a socket to fit the nut and take it off wich can be a pain in the butt if you dont have some way to hold the clutch basket. once you have the nut off just slide the basket off and make a mental note of where the thick washers came from. once it's removed you should be able to see the the shift star and the shift shaft. then all you have to do is unbolt the shifter from the shaft on the other side and it will slide out .
