What was the reason that your friend rebuilt. If compression was fine and it ran fine he didn't need. Run good oil, mix properly, and warm it up right and you get a few years of riding on a topend.

 

he ran 32:1 oil. it wasnt cheap lol he bought this synthetic stuff at the shop for 60 bucks for a half gallon.. what happened from what he told me is he was runnnin it up sand mountain.. and it just died so he rolled it back to the bottom and eventually got it started but.. it was hard and i guess what happened is he burned a hole in the top of his piston.. and. like i stated earlier in a post was .. in stock form they are easy to maintain and will last forever.. but modified like anything else reliablility goes way down [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Actually not true. The reliablility of a 4 stroke decrease more then a 2 stroke. And it blew up because of detonation. Some thing was wrong. He probably had a head mod that required race gas and didn't use it. That is not from usual top end ware.

 

once again i didnt say that the 2 strokes that are modded compared to a 4 stroke thats modded i didnt say that the 2 storke is less reliable. i said that when anything is modded reliablity goes down.. and i rarely see banshees that are stock..

 

true but on a banshee realibility doesn't go down much unless there is extensive porting done. Such as a drag port.

 

right but the power isnt really that noticble without extreme porting..

 

I dunno about that mine has no porting and it is considerably faster then a stock shee. I blow away alot of bikes. In fact i havent seen a none ported bike that has been faster then it. In compraison my friends piped raptor gets beat pretty bad. in a 300ft dirt drag he was getting beat by .5 and weighs 60lbs less and this is in really loose dirt. When I was stock and he was piped he beat me pretty good. So I made substntial gains.

 

RIght but most of those power gains were in airbox mods and pipes..

 

I wouldn't say that the timing and flywheel were really noticible. I couldnt pull 4th gear wheelies till I got them now I almost get 5th. In some situations I can. And this is geared up with a 15th. The reeds wern't as noticible but I just got them and for some reason it got really rich and I still need to work on it to get it running better.

 

Mind you these races I was only able to hit 4th and everyone knows a shee really takes off in 5-6. On a road it's pretty bad
