Default maintenance tips?

I been thinking that a post with everyones tips regarding routine maintenance would be very helpful.

anyone out here have any simple ideas on what to look for or maybe some preventative measures to ensure your Yamaha ATV runs for a long time.

chain tension
brake pads
air filters
fuel filters
tires
etc...

How often do you check your atv and what do you look for?

Default maintenance tips?

For me this is what I do.

Change Oil every 5 hard rides at the same time grease all the nipples on the quad, lube the chain make sure it's tigh enough but not too tight.
I also check the air filter and clean it if needed.

Ever 6/8 months i flush coolent and change fuel filter.

Tires i run till those suckers are bald.

Brakes I check when I change the oil but most of the time i get a year of riding out of a set.

Default maintenance tips?

First off I'm lucky to have a wife that does her own ATV maintenance.

We run the oil and oil filter for two rides. Then change. One ride is three days straight over a weekend.

Air filter, that too gets cleaned after two weekend rides.

Nipples get greased every time before every ride. Check chain tension and brake pads before every ride. Replace brake pads?? hmmmm. I need to look into that.

Check lug nuts/tire pressure, and coolant level every ride.

Coolant change every year.

This might seem excessive to some, but maintenace is half the fun for me.

Change oil & filter. every 3 rides
Clean the K&N filter AS needed
Change plug . When I clean filter .
Use Ph test strip to check Coolant once mid summer
Grease zerts spring mid summer and fall . Couple pumps then I jump
up and down on it then one more . then wipe it down
Lube chain With chain wax
Add fuel stabilizer to every can of fuel I use . Usually I use Seafoam or Brigg&Stratton stabilier .
Check tire pressure off and on
Then I wipe all the plastic down with pledge furniture polish . Serious it works great on plastic
also works great on goggle lenses .
