truck question

Default truck question

um, my yamaha silverado needs the u-joint changed..... i got the 4 bolts that hold it off, but how do i get the driveshaft off? do i pount the **** out of it where the joint is? any help would be appreciated

Use a screwdriver to pry the u-joint out of the holder (the driveshaft will telescope backward). It will pop out fairly easily.

i got the driveshaft off..... now i cant get the old u joint out of the the joint was so bad, that it moves like a 1/4 inch back and forth. and the ends are rusted in to the driveshaft

If its a new body style silverado 99+ you ned to heat up the u joint. They are held in place by PLASTIC, so once you heat it up enough, plastic will just squirt out.

this is a 1989, i got it all apart now, i just cant get the caps off

Are they held in place by c clips?
